[The Happy person often walks, unshaken, along the path that a thousand unhappy people insist is wrong]The only people you should ever want to get "even" with are those who have helped you. -John Honeyfeld During my second year of school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I breezed through the questions until I read the last one. "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would I know her name? I handed in the paper, leaving the last question blank. Before the class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our grade. "Absolutely," the professor said. "In your careers you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello." I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy. -Joann Jones, Guideposts The best way to forget your own problems is to help someone else solve theirs. Happiness is like a butterfly. The more you chase it, the more it will elude you. But if you turn your attention to other things, it comes softly and sits on your shoulder. Forgiveness is the sweetest revenge. Have patience with all things but first with yourself. Never confuse your mistakes with your value as a human being. You're perfectly valuable, creative, worthwhile person simply because you exist. And no amount of triumphs or tribulations can ever change that. Unconditional self-acceptance is the core of a peaceful mind. Every passing day is one that is gone forever. Make sure it is one in which you have done something for others, especially those who cannot do for themselves. The best thing to do behind a freind's back is pat it. - Ruth Brillhart. The best thing to do behind a friend's back is to put a note that says, "I love sensei." - Sensei. Never make someone a priority that continuosly makes you an option. |
