Mt. Fuji

Mt. Fuji is a mountain that is located between Shizuoka Prefecture and Yamanashi Prefecture. With a height of 3,776 m, it is Japan's tallest mountain. Mt. Fuji has erupted (when a volcano explodes and shoots out fire) 15 times up till now, but it has not erupted since 1707, which was the last time. The average temperature at the summit of Mt. Fuji in August was 6.0q- (1965-1990). It is possible to reach the fifth station on Mt. Fuji by automobile, but people must walk from there to reach the summit. There are huts near the summit where people can stay the night. There have always been many people who climbed Mt. Fuji for their faith, and even now it is crowded with climbers during the summer. Snow falls on Mt. Fuji around the end of September every year. The view of snow-capped Mt. Fuji is very beautiful. The subject of many poems and paintings since ancient times, this mountain is a symbol of Japan.
